The State of Mississippi charges that five of the largest opioid manufacturers — Purdue Pharma, Cephalon, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Endo Health Solutions, and Actavis — concealed the dangerously addictive nature of opioids such as OxyContin and Percocet while touting benefits that had no scientific support in order to expand the market for the drugs and boost profits.

This case involved a local church and their youth group who were on their way to youth convention when the left rear tire of the church bus failed causing the driver to lose control and ultimately causing the bus to roll over, killing and injuring several occupants.

Plaintiff was driving a 1995 Cadillac Seville STS on Interstate 59 when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a guardrail. The plastic fuel tank on the Cadillac was punctured, and a post-collision fuel fed fire ensued. The plaintiff was severely burned.
The jury found the fuel system on the 1995 Cadillac Seville STS was defective and unreasonably dangerous.
