The lawsuit alleges that these three companies, who distribute the majority of highly addictive opioids, have failed to prevent the diversion of those drugs by breaching their legal duties to monitor, detect, investigate, refuse, and report suspicious orders of opioids, which the Complaint states is a violation of the Mississippi Consumer Protection Act.

The State of Mississippi v. Purdue Pharma, L.P., et al.

Chancery Court of the First Judicial District of Hinds County, Mississippi

Civil Action No. G.2015-1814

The State of Mississippi charges that five of the largest opioid manufacturers — Purdue Pharma, Cephalon, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Endo Health Solutions, and Actavis — concealed the dangerously addictive nature of opioids such as OxyContin and Percocet while touting benefits that had no scientific support in order to expand the market for the drugs and boost profits.

Brubaker, et al. v. Travelers Insurance Co.; Forest River, Inc.; Navistar, Inc.; Carpenter Bus Sales, Inc.; Sellers Manufacturing, Inc.; Twin State Trucks, Inc.; The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company; Lim and Webb

District Court of Caddo Parish, Louisiana; Civil Action No. 542,538-B

This case involved a local church and their youth group who were on their way to youth convention when the left rear tire of the church bus failed causing the driver to lose control and ultimately causing the bus to roll over, killing and injuring several occupants.

Ellis v. First Student, Inc. and Bertha M. Luckett

Circuit Court of Madison County, Mississippi

Civil Action No. 2005-0014

A city of Canton employee was rendered permanently disabled in a crash involving a school bus owned and operated by First Student, Inc.

This case went to trial and Mr. Ellis was awarded $1.9 million dollars, reportedly the highest ever Personal Injury jury award in Madison County (2010).

Due to the defective design and manufacture of the subject vehicle, it rolled over during an accident, causing several deaths and serious lifelong injuries to the minor Plaintiff.

Goins v. General Motors, LLC; Estate of Jasmand Johnson and Does 1-20

Circuit Court of Yazoo County, Mississippi

Civil Action No. 2014-CI-40

As the driver was operating the subject GM vehicle, the engine suddenly shut off and she lost control causing the vehicle to leave the road, crash and catch fire.  The driver was killed and our client was severely injured.

Wells, et al. v. Michelin North America, Inc.; Tanja Wells; Graco Children’s Products, Inc.; and Does 1-10

Circuit Court of the First Judicial District of Hinds County, Mississippi

Civil Action No. 251-11-1010

Due to a catastrophic tire failure, the subject vehicle rolled and crashed. The accident coupled with a defective car seat resulted in the deaths of two young girls.

Drennan v. General Motors, LLC

United States District Court; Hattiesburg, MS Division

Plaintiff was driving a 1995 Cadillac Seville STS on Interstate 59 when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a guardrail. The plastic fuel tank on the Cadillac was punctured, and a post-collision fuel fed fire ensued. The plaintiff was severely burned.

The jury found the fuel system on the 1995 Cadillac Seville STS was defective and unreasonably dangerous.

$5.5 Million Dollar Jury Verdict.

Circuit Court of Marshall County, Mississippi

Civil Action No. 2012-318

A complete tread and outer belt separation caused the subject vehicle to rollover and come to rest against a concrete pillar. The driver and three of the passengers were fatally injured as a result of the incident and collision.
